MAF - Code 36 (Duralast)

Hey guys - I bought a Duralast MAF sensor and it's throwing a code 36. I can certainly take it back as defective, but I don't think it's defective, it's just of the metal film type and doesn't require cleaning.

I can get a reman Bosch as well. The original symptom is that as I drive, it appears that the airflow is low the whole time and doesn't move from upper left to lower right.

Does a code 36 put the car into limp mode?

Update - I took it back and got a refund. I can't pass smog with the check engine light on - I cleaned the Bosch and it passed smog.

I really like the new style MAF. Not sure why you had a problem. It could have been wiring related; you were unplugging and re-plugging the MAF so a janky connection could have cleared up when you re-connected the Bosch.

I too had the check engine light on with the Autozone MAF. The problem went away when I bought an AC Delco product. I also payed more.
