What is that cover right under the manifold

Whats that metal cover that bolts to the bottom of the tpi base called and how important is it? I forgot to put it on when I put my engine back together. Will it hurt performance? Thanks

It's a splash shield, suppose to keep hot engine oil from splashing up on the intake.

Probably worth a few ponies here and there, keep in mind though that many aftermarket intakes don't even have them, nor provisions for them.
