Another 113 head question post

did the L98's in later C4 corvettes have a different piston than the camaro/firebird L98's? From my understanding they both are 9.3:1 compression but the camaro/firebird L98 has the "swirl port" cast iron 64cc head on it, and the corvette L98 has the 113 aluminum 58cc head on it. I know there are tons of aftermarket heads available that will make tons more power than the 113, but if I wanted to put a mildly ported really nicely setup set of 113's on my 1992 L98 I'm going to go ahead and assume it's going to bump the compression up a decent bit and give it a couple more beans right?

Re: Another 113 head question post

Ok I stand corrected! What about pistons between the 2 L98's? And or compression ratio's???

Re: Another 113 head question post

My response to you regarding the compression ratio is based on what I found in my 1991 L98.....I can only assume the 1991 and 1992 engines to be the same.

These year L98 came equipped with flat top, 4 valve relief pistons measuring roughly 4-5cc total. Putting a 58 cc head on one of these motors will put your compression ratio in the range of 10.75:1 depending on what head gasket you use.

Re: Another 113 head question post

From what I can come up with the 91 L98 is 9.3:1 in a camaro with 64cc heads and 9.8:1 in a corvette with 58cc heads stock VS stock. If this is true I think that would be well worth it

Re: Another 113 head question post

I'll approach this a different way.

Here is a compression ratio calculator.

https://www.summitracing.com/newsand...ion-calculator

Here are my measured values from my motor, not what I googled.

Bore 4.0
Stroke 3.48
Cylinder head volume 64 cc for my F body L98.....substitute 58 cc for the 113 heads.
Effective Dome Volume +4cc
Deck Clearance .025"
Compressed Gasket Thickness .028"
Cylinders 8

Plug in the numbers to see where you will wind up.

Re: Another 113 head question post

The head gasket used with the '113 heads is .051" compressed.
