Re: Plug with Green wire behind driver valve cover..5.7
My 86 with a 305 had one like that, that actually went to the temp gauge under the manifold on the DS - (same color wire and all). The only thing I can remember being back there like that would possibly be for the oil sending unit/temp gauge combo screwed in the back of the intake manifold, some I know had it down by the oil filter but others had it there (like mine). Might check that? GL

You might look into that by searching here. I believe there is 2 connections there. I think 1 is for the computer to make sure the oil pump is functioning, and the other for a gauge. I think the 1 for the pump function will shut off the fuel pump (or something like that) if it is not working and the other just goes to the gauge. If your having a gauge issue I would bet that is what it is for. Mine actually has these 2 screwed into the intake manifold just to the right of the dizzy (DS) with some sort of adapter that fits both sender/sensors. Like i said before, some years have them down by the oil filter, but all had 2 (1 for the computer/1 for the gauge) i believe.
Re: Plug with Green wire behind driver valve cover..5.7
Found it. Looks like it gets connected to the EGR Vacuum Sensor Diagnostic Connector.......the single line from the temp probe on the EGR.....which makes sense due to the previous bonehead disconnecting the EGR System, SMOG Pump removal, A.I.R. Injection System, and tubes. What a D#$k.
Thanks for the reply's @3rdgenzroc.
