Battling Intermittent Stalling Issues

About two years ago I decided to get my 87 Camaro back running, at the time I had a L98 TPI Speed Density setup in it. Since then I have installed a Stealth Ram and have had intermittent stalling issues crop up every once an while. I am at the end of the rope with the car and now my wife won't even drive it (which is the whole point we kept the thing, I've moved on to another car). My symptoms are below:

When you first start the car for the day it will usually stall once or twice before maintaining idle. That is not perfect but not exactly a deal breaker. Every once and awhile though it will just stall out when driving, mainly at low speeds or at a light. Usually the engine is hot and has been running awhile. When the care has been running okay I've had issue with hesitation/laziness when getting on power mainly around 2500-3500RPM. I've tried the following:

1. Replace IAC, readjust
2. Replace and adjust TPS
3. Replace speed density unit
4. Worked with Brian at Tuned Performance, he has not seen anything notable during logging when this issue has cropped up.
5. Check fuel pressure (35-40PSI)
6. Replaced the knock sensor (when I did the instake)
7. Replaced spark plugs, rotor/cap, and coil

When I did the intake I did go with FIC injectors instead of Southbay as at that time they didn't have any stock. I don't want to throw parts at this car anymore but I am seriously thinking that my injectors are bad, that was one of the big things I changed. I have ohmed them cold and everything was within spec.

Does anyone have any thoughts? This car was always reliable, now not so much. I am also thinking do I gut the stock computer and wiring to install a Fast System?

Re: Battling Intermittent Stalling Issues

Mine stalls randomly as well. After years of being a very reliable driver, I too have parked mine. Ive come to conclusion that the intake gaskets have shrunk causing an unmetered air leak. My car runs incredibly rich and I couldnt figure out why. Well, I sprayed some brake cleaner along the intake ports and it reacted immediately. Hoping to pull the top end off this year sometime, but its not a priority.

Re: Battling Intermittent Stalling Issues

I am going to check for vacuum leaks again as well, maybe I didn't seal them good enough when putting on the HSR. Did some more searching and I am going to replace/readjust the IAC again. I also put in an order today for Southbay D3 24lb injectors. That is one of the major things that changed when I did the intake. Already got another tune from Brian for them.

If this stuff doesn't fix I might be replacing the whole computer system with a Holley EFI setup... already got clearance from the wife who wants to drive this car badly.

It’ll take 30 seconds to spray it and watch for a change. I don’t like spending money unnecessarily. But these cars sit a lot, and paper gaskets, even with a silicon seal, will go bad just from sitting. I used felpros and probably should have just stuck with the factory metal core gaskets. I’ve had nothing but trouble with the more expensive stuff

Re: Battling Intermittent Stalling Issues

Try a smoke test, more reliable than spraying and very cheap. A $5 harbor freight fluid exchanger, a cheap cigar and hook up to a port on the plenum.
