Open Plug- 1990 Formula 305 TPI

Hello,

When I bought this car, it had this open plug(picture attached) with no apparent wiring or connections to plug into. Does anyone know what this is for? Thanks!

Could that be for a now removed or optional under hood light?

For some reason, I always thought only Camaro's had under hood light. And for some reason, I was thinking there was some sort of vacuum test port in that area, but I may have it confused with another car I own. I won't be visiting the Formula until Sunday, will try to remember to look.

I've seen talk about a single electrical port testing plug that was used for testing on the factory. assembly line... but nobody has confirmed this

This is normal - it is a test connector as mentioned above, although for the life of me I can't remember what its for off the top of my head. My 90 formula has the same pigtail.

Confirmed on Sunday, got one too. I think the Factory Service manual indicates its purpose.
