Bonehead Move?

Ok Guys..

Swapped a TPI engine from 87 Camaro into my sons 95 Chevy truck - Got it running, Noticed water in oil...
Order Felpro Head and intake gaskets.. Pulled the intake and appeared to have leaked at the intake.
Pulled the old felpro gasket out 90314-1. What summit sent me is 93317.
For some reason the 90314 cross references to a 4 barrel intake.(Camaro - and a million other GM cars/trucks.
So not sure if it was mis packed originally or I screwed it up..

Wondering f that caused the water in oil or should I pull the heads???

Re: Bonehead Move?

The only difference is the rear water ports arnt blocked on the 90314.
y body uses a rear coolant crossover f body tpi doesn’t unless it’s a aftermarket intake base. Head gaskets could be leaking or pitted intake surfaces. Either gasket will work.

Due to the fact that there are 5 head bolts surrounding each cylinder, small block head gasket problems are pretty rare.

That said, as for how to proceed, it's a judgment call on your part; you've seen the evidence in-person.

Re: Bonehead Move?

If it were me, I would pull the cylinder heads. Inspect the gasket, motor surface and cyl head surface. I've been there. Done that.

Good Luck,
Fred
