I need a favor
I need someone to do me a favor. Remove the electrical connector going to the charcoal canister and see if the black wire going to it is connected to ground. I am wondering because the Hayes manual says that 12V goes to this wire but all I am getting is a ground signal when I check it. I have been through most of the wiring harness but I cannot find where it is connected to ground. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I checked my connector Justin and the black wire does not seem to be grounded. I measured 19.7 Ohms with my digital meter from the black wire to ground.
I can't help with voltage that may be on that wire since my battery is dead (my car is parked for the winter until the road salt is gone).
Hope this helps

Justin,
The green / yellow wire is grounded by the ECM when a purge cycle is requested, the other wire goes to +12v via the gages fuse.
This power also goes to the port / divert solenoids on the A.I.R. system, the EGR solenoid, the shift light (on a manual tranny), the SES light, the brake / TCC switch, and can be checked at the ALDL connector pin 'F'
There is also a fusible link in the circuit. The ECM sources the 'switched ground' to the canister purge solenoid at the 24 (smaller) connector pin A3.
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers
Richard
