Multec fuel injectors vs Multec II

From all the posts I have read on this board, no one has anything good to say about the Multec injectors. Not to mention what some voice about their thoughts of GM on putting these into their cars. Now I'm the first to admit that GM has done some what seems to be stupid things. But they also make some pretty good choices too. The Multec injector is designed to allow the flowing fuel to cool the injector's coil, thus having a cooler running injector. Under normal driving operations, this is not a problem. The 'ball' style discharge gives very good atomization with a 15-20 degree spray pattern. These injectors are very effective at higher pressures as well, and even under normal pressures will increase HP compared to the pintle style. Why else would MSD use them? The problem begins when poor fuel qualities are used, and other agents are introduced into the fuel, that can eventually eat through the coils insulating coating, which results in the shorting and dustuction of the coils. These agents will also destroy the o-rings, and cause leak problems as well. GM was aware of the problem, and as of 1999, is using Multec II injectors. This new style changes the postion of the coil so it is no longer cooled by the fuel. There are also many other benefits of this new technology. You can be sure they will be on the new GEN IV small block due in 2004. My point is simply this, don't sell the multecs short, just because most people will merely say, "They suck!", and cannot really give a worthwhile reason. All injectors can have problems, but also look at where you get your fuel, and think about how much is seen by your injectors every year.

I am always open to new info, and if you disagree with me, then tell me why. I'm really just trying to find out the most I can about injectors, to make better choices in the future. By the way , how many of you use MSD injectors?

I wonder if arthur has been waiting patiently for the past 2.5 years for a reply to his post
