anyone in the 12's w/ vortecs???

I might have stumbled on a free set of vortec heads, i just have to verify that they're being thrown out first. anyway, my goal is to be in the 12's when i get my tpi up and running. so is anyone there w/ these heads?? if so, what cam and what runner style are you running??
thanks

Check the aftermarket product review board, there's a huge thread about a guy with those heads and the scoggin dickey intake. He's running 12's.

My dad plans on using them with a ZZ4 cam and SLP 1 3/4" headers. I dunno what he'll run but it should be low 13's at least.

Yeah, I'd like to see the same thing you're looking for, but the 383 thread has still been interesting to follow...

Ok, I'll help you back up there . I've got a complete 350 just sitting around gathering dust right now, but won't have the time to do anything with it for another month or two. I may be looking into building it up then. I'd just rather stick with a 350 instead of a stroker for a few reasons. Number one is gas mileage. My car is driven every day, so that is a major concern. Number two is simplicity. It's a 350 now, so there can't be anything easier than leaving it a 350. Kind of waiting to see what kinds of results people have with TPI and Vortec/Fastburn heads right now.

Hey Guys,

I'm the guy with the vortec TPI 383 (and the never ending thread that you're talking about). I'm still convinced that a vortec head TPI 350 with either the LPE 74211 cam, or maybe even the the GMPP ZZ3/4 cam, is a very low 13 or high 12 second setup. I was intially going to go that way until I decided to do the 383. I see no reason why a vortec 350 shouldn't go 12s.

Later, Mike.....
