Need help setting up motor...

I have a l98 with a set of Corvette aluminum heads with 2.00in/1.55ex valves, bowls blended, mild porting, and comp cams valve springs that can handle .550 lift. I am trying to pick out a cam and torque converter. any suggestions. Also will I need a chip with a large cam?

Thanx, David

For camshaft selection check the tech article here: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/mods3.shtml . Read over it and it will advise you on what style of camshaft your engine would benifit from and who offers them. I would not recomend a new torque converter unless you want to shell out some big bucks for a quality unit. From what I understand saving money here is somthing to avoid on account of the extra heat they'll produce and the effects of that on your tranny's life span, or lack there of. $700 will buy you a Precision Industries 'Vigilante' converter, which most would agree is one of the best you can buy. Also, you wouldn't 'need' a new chip to run this setup. A custom prom calibration can, however, benifit even a stock engine; let alone a modified one. There are many custom programers, www.fastchip.com for example, but many on this board will advise you to burn your own. You could easily buy prom burning equipment for the same price as a single custom prom made by some one else, read how here: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml .

All this info should keep you busy for a while, no?

Thanx a lot man... Do you think a B&M holeshot 2000 stall speed and an external transmission cooler would work?
