Reuse my Torque Converter?
I am getting my trans rebuilt wit ha transgo shift kit this week and the guy whos rebuilding it charges 100 bucks for a new torque converter. My current torque converter only has 20K miles on it, and it was not slipping at all. BTW, my 3-4 clutches are fried, thats why i am getting my trans rebuilt. Would it be okay if I re used my current torque converter? Could I just flush all the fluid out of it?
I wouldnt do it.
the converter is most likely filled with junk from the clutches, and when you fire up the engine it will all circulate back into the tranny.
for this same reason, that is why when you rebuild it, or they rebuild it, they should flush the trans cooler.

Well, I just got the engine and tranny out earlier today and the TC still looks brand new. I havent seen any metal shavings in the fluid at all. Could I just put a water hose in the TC and let it run for a while to flush it out? I am trying to save 100 bucks if possible.
You are obviously on a tight budget. Try filling the TC with as much ATF as possible and then pour it out through a filter (coffee filter rag etc) and see if there are any bits in there.
A garden hose has no place in flushing gearboxes, engine etc. You are having a laugh right?
