To all that know the 700r4 in & out!

Why is it that everyone is having a problem with the full throttle 2-3 shift? Is there a real cure for this 700r4 tranny problem? & with the Trans go kit, is this just a bandaid or does this kit fix the problem? It seems to me that the 3-4 clutch pack has to much clearance inside. When I rebuild my tranny is it better to use the 9 clutch pack or the 6?

Not sure but i woudl think the 9 would be better. BTW, my 3-4 clutches are currently fried. My trans and engine are sitting in my driveway and the trans is getting rebuilt this week.

There are multiple causes for 3-4 clutch failure on a 700 and the TransGo kit will fix most of them if you install the complete kit, including the special release springs if you go into high RPM's. In most aplications I like the 4L60E 3-4 pack. Is has the latest B/W High Energy Frictions and thicker steels for better heat disspation (think of them as bigger brake rotors) and rigid Pressure Plates on either end so there is less flex. With this set up in a 700 I tend to run it tighter than normal butwhile that might reduce a possible spin up on the 2-3 shift due to a timing problem it does not increase the holding power of the clutch pack itself. Don't forget the Hi Rev Pump Ring Kit from TransGo too as that can prevent another reason for 3-4 failure- loss of pressure at high RPM.
