700r4 emergency
I have a problem in the 700r4 of my '72 vette hotrod...350 engine...fuel injected...
problem began with 3-4th gears going, last weekend, got the thing out and bought a 3-4 clutch pack, badly burnt, about 20 mils thinner than new on the clutches...easily seen, steels were slick though, but been hot, black....and silver in spots...streaked looking, worst ones I replaced with two new steels....
2-4 band was torn at anchor, not failed yet, but got rid of it, also worn badly at point of valve actuation...
first, secone, lockup, reverse, neutral were fine...
NOW that I have done this, replaced converter also, I find no reverse, same as neutral, no second, no third or fth...a bit of first....
there MAY be second gear, but I don't think so...failed quickly if there ever way...I"M still up in the air, so testing by riding brakes a bit....
anyone have any ideas??? the internal rubber was perfect, the valve body was removed and looked fine, think I have all the check ***** in right places.....it had/has a Superior Tranny shift kit in it...I did not take that band apply servo apart, the old fluid was not all that bad, and the pan was no worse than a 350/400 turbo really...
this thing lasted a total of 4.5 years with a 350 hp or so 350 engine....in a light vette....
far cry from that 400 turbo lasting well over 350,000 miles behind a Pontiac 400 engine then a 455 engine....
I"M in a jamb here, need help...appreciate any help, came here upon suggestion from Corvette Forum fellow....
