Has anyone ever read the book "how to work with and modify the turbo hydra-matic 400 tranz" by Ron Sessions. is it any good all opinions welcome.

It is a good book. If you are going to rebuild a TH 400, you
should buy a copy. It is easy to read and has a lot of pictures.
Ron's Turbo 350 Handbook is also worth buying.

I also want to ask but forgot was, does it explain how the trans works in detail or is it just how to rebuild it

It explains everything about the tranny. A couple of the performance modifications are a little out of date. He talks a bit about external transbrakes and a clutch automatic both which haven't been used in many years.

On the whole, it's probably one of the best books to get. Read it many times before doing a rebuild.

My copy is getting a little tattered. I got tranny fluid in it a few times.

 

It's the book I used 4 years ago when I did my trany. It's a great book on T400's.
