transmission problems, is my tranny going?

This is my 2nd tranny (700r4) in the car and I really hope this one doesnt die either. Anyways this problem only happens when i leave it in OD or D, never happens when I leave it in 2nd. I'll start off normally but once i pick up speed, like say around 45mph, it slips out of gear and pretends like its in neutral. I noticed while trying to drive on the highway, it will slip out of gear and i can only really maintain 50-55mph without going over 5000rpm (and at that speed its already up in the 4000's ). For now its okay for city driving, I just leave it in 2nd at the sacrifice for some gas mileage. I checked the ATF and its still pretty full. I think I might have lost 3rd and OD... . I hope thats not the case. Any ideas on what the problem can be? I really need help here
