700R4 R&R experts, HELP!!!
Me and a buddy removed my old 700R4 out of my '89 Formula 350 and replaced it with a built unit.
Problem is, when we were removing the old one, the shift linkage bracket got caught up on the pan, yanking the cable and pulling the boot and casing out of the little ball socket thingie.
We installed the new trans, and now the trans will shift from P all the way down, but will not shift back up the PRND. We have to get under the car and shift the bracket back up by hand to get it into park.
Did we adjust the linkage wrong or did we mess up the shift cable assembly?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

It's very possible you streched the cable. You may luck out though, there is an adjustment tab on the shifter itself. If you pull the 4 screws on the console "inside of the car" Theres a quick adjustment tab "like the TV cable one" that might just reduce the cable slack enough to fix the problem. Other then the adjustment, the bracket that holds the cable itself could be bent to work but I wouldent reccomend it.

Fixed it!! Had to buy a new cable. The old one pulled out of this molded section on the cable housing and wouldn't go back onto the cable.
