pinion seal

My car's pinion seal leaks. Do I need any special tools (other than sockets, renches, etc.) to remove the driveshaft, pinion flange, and seal? Or can I use regular (sockets, renches, screw- drivers, etc) tools found in hardware stores.

you'll need something to hold the pinion yoke from spinning, i made my "special tool" from some steel flat stock. mark the pinion nut depth and make a match mark so you reinstall it to the same location, then another flat of the nut or so more
