3.73s or 4.10s from factory?
I'm probably gonna go to a few junkyards this coming week to look for some gears, cause my 2.73s are horrible. I know some 4 cyl camaros had 3.73s stock. Does anyone know what other cars had either 3.73s, or 4.10s? I'd much rather get a set of 4.10s than 3.73s, but I really doubt any cars at all came with 4.10 gears. I'm trying to reasearch some GM trucks, cause if anything, they are going to tend to have more gearing than passenger cars, but I haven't been able to find much info.
This is going in with an slp takeoff posi unit. I think this will work, but I'm not sure. I never really understood the whole difference in carrier thing too well. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Well, looking for gears....if you don't already have the posi unit....I know that some chevy astro vans came with 3.73's and posi stock. Some other members were talking about this once before. You could buy a van rear-end although I am not sure what codes to look for or what year. I am not even sure if the width is right. It's gonna be hard to find 4.10's on anything at a junkyard probably but I could be wrong. I am planning on doing the van thing if I ever get enough info of fitting it in there and stuff. I got 2.73's too and they are killing me. As far as carrier difference all I know is that if you have 3.08 or numerically lower gears (example 3.08, 2.73) you have a 2 series carrier. If you have 3.23 or numerically higher gears (example 3.42, 3.55, 4.10) you have a 3 series carrier. If your 2.73's are stock you have a 2 series carrier. Gears to fit in a 2 series carrier always seem to be more expensive from Richmond and Strange than those that fit in a 3 series which sucks. Good luck in your search.

The gear size of the early pickups is too large.
You can find 4.10 7.5" gears in some of the 4 cyl S10 pickups. You're not going to find any in cars.
