Questions about my 9" swap

I got a Ford 9 inch from Moser and have access to the tools necessary to set it up so, I'm gonna give it a shot. I do have a few questions, and thought they might get answered here:

Pinion Preload Spacer:
----------------------------
It is a solid spacer and shim pack, and I have nothing to use for reference. Should I just use a crush sleeve first, to get desired preload then "mic" it for thickness and transfer the measurement to my spacer and shim pack?

Thanks in advance for your time...

I just used the crush sleeve. I torqued the pinion nut until some drag was felt spinning the pinion gear, 20 in. lbs. I used the Ford service manual as a guide when assembling. I don't know if Moser uses a different setup or not, I would give them a call if you are not sure.

Thanks for the info.
Yeah, ususally when setting up the 9 inch, they say to use the "old shim" for reference when building up your shim pack, but I guess I will just use a crush sleeve, then use that for my reference point.

Thanks for the response...
