2-3 shift kinda lagging

Hello, I have a 1988 IROC with a 700 R4. I just replaced the valve body and govorner. The 2-3 shift isn't as hard as the rest of them. Is this just a detent cable adj. or clutches?

Thanks in advance!

I have a similar problem and have yet to figure out what it is. My car sometimes doesn't shift from 2nd to 3rd unless i let off the gas, the rpm's go past 6000 rpm.

i'm pretty sure (don't quote me) that these transmissions are known for that. My trans. was just probuilt with shift kit, converter etc. etc. etc. and it's the same, 1-2 is necksnapping hard then 2-3 is hard but it doesn't have that same feeling... maybe because of increased speed????

Alright, thanks guys... I guess I won't worry about it because its also the original tranny.

Thanks!

Mine did that until it burned out 3rd. I wanted to rebuild it anyway though. After that hard shifts everywhere.
