got a problem with new 10 bolt rear missing one preload spring

hey guys i am in a real bind
i just picked up a 3.73 posi disc 10 bolt rear end but i have a problem
it is missing one of the preload springs that hold the clutchs together
dont ask me you there is one missing my guess is when they rebuilt the rear the guys left it out
Gm has discontiued the preload spring kit and no one in the aftermarket carries them(they want you to buy a whole new posi and im not doing that over one spring
guys at the junk yards are going to make me buy a whole rear for that spring so scratch that
i cant use the ones fromthe rear i am taking out because it is a nine bolt
does anyone have a blown 10 bolt posi in the NY area i can have i only what the preload springs or can someone hook me out with them trough mail
if i can not get them do you guys think it would be ok to run the rear with out one of the springs
the posi is tight from what i can tell so what do ya say
thanks in advance

That wouldn't happen to be an Auburn posi would it?
I bought one of those brand new and it was missing a spring.
I e mailed them several times, they didn't want to give one up.
One day I got two of them through fex ex next day air. They pulled through and delivered.
I have since got a used set out of a junk posi for spares.

Man, somebody give this guy a spring :sillylol:

Actually, if you don't mind spending a few dollars, take one of your springs and let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages.
A spring supply house would be able to measure the spring diameter, number of coils, etc... and cut off a hunk of bulk spring.

a good gunsmith would probably be able to do the same thing.
