Which yrs/vehicles

I have searched the boards and can't find the answer I need, I know I've seen this question before but cant find it now that I need it. My question is...Which years and vehicles can I find in a junkyard to pull a rearend that came factory with 3:42 gears. I have herd that S-10s came with these gears but just need to verify that. I want to be able to go to a yard and pull the rear, change the fluid and put it on my car. One more thing, anyone got a ball park figure of what I might have to pay for a good rearend. Thanks

if you want to be 100% plug and play you will have to limit yourself to f-body's due to the torque arm mount, if you get one from an s-10 all you will be able to use is the ring and pinion, and the carrier, and you will have to get them installed on your axle housing

Ok. I will stick to a F-body. What years can I find a 3:42 rear in. I guess it would be less trouble if I just stay with the drum rear, but I might consider a disk setup.
