Loud bang when flooring it?

I own a 92 RS 305 TBI and everytime i floor it there is this loud bang, sometimes it sounds like its coming from the back then other times its coming right under the shifter. Im thinking a tranny mount is broke but why would it make a bang in the back?? Thanks

Sounds like a busted tranny mount.

definitely a busted tranny mount, fix immediately! i went through the same thing and it bent my driveshaft and fragged all the internals of my rear end from my neglect. it's an easy task to fix and way worth it. a lot easier to change mount than whole rear end! good luck.

I had the same problem in my 84 TA. I would hear a loud bang on take off and also at 1-2 shift (5-speed) The problem was not my tranny mount, but the support brace (?) that goes from the tranny to the rearend. The bolts had sheared off and the brace would bang against the tranny. Crawl underneath and bench press the brace, it should not move.

definitly a tranny mount. it may sound like its coming from the back but its not. get an energy suspension mount and you wont have to worry about changing it for another 20000 years

on my 1988 firebird 350, auto; i had that same bang when i would shift, you could see the whole console shake so i fixed that buy changing the tranny mount. After that the tranny did not shake anymore, but the i also had the same noise/feeling you do coming from the rear end area. I think what i had was called "wheel hop" when really getting on the gas this would happen, and i fixed that buy getting the lakewood rear lower control arms for like 80 bucks and that fixed that.

So i had two problems that would make the car shake and hop when getting on the gas, i thought the car was actually falling aparts, but actually only 100 dollars and 1 hour later it was all fixed.
