There are issues with the slave cylinder fit. i.e. it doesn't!!
Does the T5 V8 bellhousing look like this? Especially the location of the top hole for the slave?

that's a SBC bolt pattern, the one in my truck doesn't look like that ,fork and slave are on the right. been a couple of years since i had a t5 out of an f body but as far as i can remember that looks like it. what exactly is your no fit problem? bolt pattern or interferance/clearance issuses? i've never saw a t5 with a seperate bell, all were part of the trans case. not saying you couldn't have a seperate bell, but i've done a couple of camaros, gm trucks, and a mustang or two and i don't remember seeing that before.

The slave bolt holes in the bellhousing are too close together and the slave itself will not fit into the semi-circular hole on the bellhousing.
I was assured that the bellhousing would fit and it was from a third gen, but, I have my doubts now.
I have got nearly everything from thirdgenparts in Florida, except for the bellhousing!! All their parts fit perfectly! The only bit I got from a place in the UK was this bellhousing, and it appears it is the wrong one!! Go figure! Looks like I may be contacting thirdgenparts again!! My shipping costs are astronomical!!

It doesn't look right to me... all the ones I have, have a completely round hole all the way around the slave cyl, not a semicircle like that. But, the trans is rotated lilke it's supposed to be. I can't imagine what else it could have come from, but it's not what I would expect to see.

if you can't figure anything out, i will get you a picture late tonight. my bell is currently on the motor for test fitting fitting trans to cut my shifter hole.

yours looks right to me, but i am not positive. make sure you have the clutch fork engaging the pivot ball properly


could it have come from a G-body?, or astrovan?

The fork is on the pivot ball correctly. Good suggestion though!

The slave won't actually fit into the semi-circular hole, so it must be wrong bellhousing, surely?!!

Just spoke to Jim at thirdgenparts, and he sent me some photos of the correct bellhousing.

The slave cylinder bolts into a completely round hole, not the one that I have! This one could be from a G-body.

So, it looks as if Jim is sending a bellhousing to the UK now (along with all the other bits he has sent already)! If only I lived in the US, I could just drive down to the local store and buy just what i wanted!!

So, here we go, transmission out again! Getting quite good at this!!

glad you got it figured out, not sure if any of us really helped, i hope we did. i can't imanage all the trouble you go to having a camaro over there.

Lakewood makes a blow-proof bellhousing for third-gens that incorporates mounting holes for the T-5 (like yours - 17 deg. angle) as well as a Super T-10 pattern. Sounds like you already have the correct stock piece on the way, but this might be helpful in the future. I have a Richmond 5-speed bolted up to a Lakewood using the Super T-10 bolt holes and it works well with the factory hydraulic clutch.

it could have been the correct bell housing at one time, someone maybe modified it, to work in some other setup, cuz as i look at the picture you posted again it looks as though it may have had a little grinding done on it around the starter area. unless you did that
