Can't Find Rear End Codes

Can't Find Rear End Codes - HELP!!!!!

I looked everywhere I could find to look ... and came up empty-handed. Most places say they are on front face of the right hand axle tube about three inches from the differential cover - but I can't find anything.

Any suggestions on where to look? I am blind? Can someone help me locate with simple layman's terms? I'm upside down, under car - cannot see top of rear or axle.

Thanks!:hail:

Welcome to thirdgen.org

Yes you are looking in the proper location. Front of the RH tube (passenger side). The numbers are stamped in and usually very hard to read. Some WD40 and a wire brush might make them easier to see.

Is the diff still original? Do you still have the RPO list in the center console?

OK ... I'll try the WD40. I would swear there's nothing there!

I have a longer number off the bottom of the diff .... does this number translate into anything? It is 22522676.

Not sure on status of originality ... the title to this parts car had "salvage title" on it from the state ... so something's been changed.

That just looks like a part number.

Your looking for something like
CB G 112 1 E

It might be easier to just pull the rear cover off. The code might not mean much since the previous owner could have changed things inside the diff.

OK ... carb cleaner and steel wool found it. You're right, that sucka is hard to see. Much to my dismay, not the posi I had hoped for. Oh well, you win some, I lose alot! hehehe

Thanks for info!
