700R4....shift kit or not?

Quick question for ya, what's the downside to installing a good shift kit in my tranny? I've been thinking for a while and was talking with a friend who used to work at a tranny shop. He said that they're nice, but instead of breaking cheap parts, or what he called "soft", you start breaking "hard" parts and start spending money b/c the harder shifts put more strain on different parts of the tranny. Is this true? Thanx

If the Shift kit is installed correctly, then the shifts should be nice at light throttle and get progressively with more throttle. If it is installed this way the transmission should have a fairly long life.

my tranny blew a month after I had the TransGo HD shift kit installed, but my tranny was already on it's last leg (125,000 miles) prior to the shift kit.

If you dont have a trans cooler yet, I'd suggest getting one.
