Torque converter q's

Ok I've been reading alot about these. I have a few q's I can't find though.

#1 What is the point of going witha smaller 10" compared toa 12" with the same stall?

#2 And if I get a 3000rpm stall converter will I still be fine going down the highway at 2000rpm? The stall is just in first gear right?

Thanks!!

The smaller diamter the Torque Converter is, the less rotating mass on the flywheel. 9.5" converters boast an increase of up to 30 RWTq due to this. I think they can weigh up to 20 less, including fluid.

Stall speed is the same in all gears, but if its a lock-up converter, then once locked, it will be the same as the 12", since "locked up" means no slip. Also understand that a "2800" stall doesn't mean its always going to slip 2800 RPM. You'll only see that when you "flash" the converter or stomp on it hard. normal cruising, you'll see less than half that.

so I'll be fine going w/ a 3000rpm stall or somewhere around there then. and yes it would be a lock-up for a 700-r4

thanks
