alright here is my problem I have a 2.8 85 camaro. My transmission will only shift out of a gear only on the red line. But if you shift it back to 2nd gear it will shift fine 1st to 2nd. but in drive and overdrive it will shift on the redline. I have alot of transmission fluid flowing out of the front of the bellhousing. and it will not hold any trans fluid. So if anyone knows any about it please tell me.

From: working at a horse farm, gonna go to somerset county tech. inst. in january.
Car: 87 GMC sierra classic
Engine: fresh 350, minor mods (its been de-emissioned too)
Transmission: professionally re-built 700R4, REALLY hard shifts & bigger clutch packs
i think its a dirty valve. If it is, take the trans pan off and check the valve. there are ways of cleaning it without taking the pan out, but i dont remember waht they are.

not holding any fluid makes it seem like its a clogged gallery. try the filter too.

Could his torque converter have possibly gone bad?

Try giving TCI an email. They might be able to help.

Sounds like the front pump seal has gone bad.
