torque brace help!
torque brace help!
hey folks, I just re-installed my auto tranny on my GTA and I had disconnected the torque brace at the rear end, and had a big monkey wrench keeping it from hitting the undercarriage. I removed those two giant @$$ bolts and can't get the holes to line up because the rear is cocked up. I have a small jack I used to get the brace over the stupid axle but thats as far as I got. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!!
I think I may know what you are talking about. Is the problem that when you try to line the holes up, the bottom ones line up but not the top ones because the rearend has seemed to twist making the front of the housing point more upward? If thats it, I had to help a buddy do the same thing. You need to use a jack, and you may have to stack a wood block between the jack and the back of the housing and jack the back of the rearend up enough to get the holes to line up. I long screw driver can make this easier by helping center and hold the bottome holes lined up. This whole thing is easier it the T-arm is NOT bolted to the tranny. I hope that is what you are talking about and I hope that helps a little.
