Transmission making bad sounds
Searched and couldn't find anything, so... here we go.
This problem just arose yesterday, and I'm not sure what could have caused it. It was shifting and driving fine before, but now when I shift it from P into R it makes a loud clunk. It makes a smaller one sometimes when going from R to N, and then usually another big one from N to OD. I don't know if it makes noises when it's shifting 1-2-D-OD, because I haven't taken it out since I noticed the noise. The noises are basically the same when going back up from OD-N-R-P, maybe a hair louder. Like I said, the one from R to N/N to R doesn't happen everytime. We checked the mounts, they seem ok. Any thoughts?
(A 700R4, by the way.)

::sigh::
Problem solved.
We're somehow missing a bushing around the torque arm where it attaches to the tranny, so when we shift it just bangs around in its little socket. Oh well, at least it's easy to fix and driveable in the meantime.

That would do it...
Get an Energy Suspension one, it's a little more work to put in, but worth it. You'll need to know which style of arm you have, i.e. which way the "lips" face (toward the trans or away from the trans); there's about 3 different versions of TA, each of which takes a different bushing, and the only way to be sure of which one you have is to look.
