I'm not concerned about originality anymore...

For the longest time I've been concerned about keeping my 25th anniversary original.. After thinking about it, I'd rather enjoy it for what it's worth to me than think about a long term investment.. I didn't buy the car to sell it.. Anyway.. onto the question..

I have an automatic in the car right now, and would love to eventually turn the car into a manual.
Any guesses how much it would cost to take it somewhere and get a manual transmission put in it with the equivalent of a 3.96 rear end with a REALLY good OD (for 5th or 6th gear).

How much would it cost to even get the transmission and parts to do the conversion?

Probably not happening for quite some time, but I figured it's a question on my head, so I might as well ask.
Thanks
-Justin

The six speed tranny will cost you about 2200 dollars from spohn. Its made to go in our cars and work with the T-5 clutch setup. You'll need a new flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, bellhousing, brake/clutch pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, throwout bearing, and hydraulic lines. And if you go with the 6 speed from spohn, you'll need either a new driveshaft or get the one you have shortened. As for all the crap mentioned above im not sure how much it'll cost. I fixin to do this swap in not too long so i guess id better find out. Also, i did the calculations and with a 3.73 rearend and a 6 speed tranny in sixth gear, going 75 mph with 26 in tires, you'd only turn 2250 rpms.

it cost me $1800 for the t-56 tranny from a local fbody salvage shop, included EVERYTHING i needed for the swap, flywheel, pedals, shifter, etc.... and $300 for clutch and pressure plate.. and installed it myself.. its really easy. i wouldnt go waste another $1000 for a shop to do it..

you could probably get a t-56 for cheaper then that if u look around. i was just in a rush and it was convenient..
