side carrier gears the same?

ok guys heres my dilema, i bought an LSD for my car and i went to put it in and i turned out it is for 28 spline axles, well my car has 26, my question is this : Can I swap out the side gears from the standard diff. to the limted slip diff. so my axles will fit. both are 3 series carriers.

There's no way. The Auburns side gears are a huge piece, and I would think that the Eaton & others are specialized also.

You might be able to sale those carriers for a few bucks, & jump on that SLP or what ever - $99 dollar 28 spline, 3 series carrier.

I know at least the factory Auburn I took a part, is different than an open. Not only are the side gears different, but the carrier casing where the side gears- be it cone or clutches is different.

Ever notice how most mini spools only fit open carriers, and not posi carriers?

If your hell bent on keeping the 28 spline axles (I would), your going to have to remove the carrier anyhow, and take a look-see for yourself. Have that SLP carrier on stand by

Heres a view of an Auburn, so you can kind of get an idea. My OEM Auburn looks the same..

Yea, as far as I know any 90-92 third gen should have a 28 spline axle.

Good Luck with your project.
