POSI ??? How to know when it's time to replace
I think my posi unit is shot. I get a weird noise for the rear along with a shudder when it kicks down on the high way. And when I light 'em up you can see by the tread marks that the passenger side wheel locks up way before the driverside.
yeah sounds like it wearing out!
you could always try chaning the fluid and adding posi additive and try that..
heres a link for a possible new posi...

Yeah, try changing the fluid first, and use the GM stuff, along with their posi additive. The posi in my GTA's 9 bolt was making terrible noises every time I'd get off the highway, lots of clicking and stuff. I replaced the fluid, and it has been fine ever since. There's also a way to check the clutches in a posi, you put one rear wheel in the air, and leave the other on the ground, then turn the wheel that is in the air with a torque wrench. Depending on how much torque it takes to turn it, it will tell you if your posi is worn out. But alas, I can't remember the torque spec that says it's good. 80 ft/lbs comes to mind, but I may have just made that number up.
