Which T-5 VSS works w/ T-56?

Nobody on the trans board will help, can you guys????

I just called a dealership and they said that there are two different part numbers for the speed sensor for a 90 Bird with a T-5.

1 Part# 1045 6088 $79
2 Part# 1045 6089 $39

I'm going tomorrow to look at both to see what the difference is. Maybe it has something to do with gear ratio's.

If you are swapping to a T56 neither will work. You need a conversion box. I used the dakota digital SGI 5 box, just run a search for the box and you will get all the info you need.

What he said.. The reason why is the VSS is 2 different sizes and the one for the T56 gives off more pulses than a T5 one.

There are ways out there to convert the T56 tail shaft housing to accept the T5 VSS but it isnt worth the $$ or the troubble.

I'll have to search the archives again, but I saw that people just used one from a t-5 that works. I'm buying them both tonight and see what I can do.
