9" Ford Rear End Installation?

I have a friend who is going to be hopping up a 3rd Gen and he wants to know if he can take a normal Ford 9" rearend & install it with some modifications.Like the torque arm? Would there be any way to "rig" that up so that it will work? or would it just be better to run a ladder bar setup underneith it?Just need some help on this because we dont want a crappy 10 bolt 7.5 rearend breaking @ the drag strip!

sure all you have to do is relocate the brackets off a ten bolt to the ford rear and it'll bolt right up, might have to change the axle tube length. no real labor saving advantage going to 4 links or ladder set up over what the factory has.

Actually, it may be a big pain in the *** unless you get very close to the correct length of the 10 bolt cause if not you have to get new custom axles and shorten the axle tubes and then you will have to make up a jig in order to transfer the brackets......Also you would have to go with a ladder bar setup (e.g.) SSM kit or such or if Moser or Currie or someone sells a Tq. arm kit you can go that route, but personnally I would buy the housing with axle package from Moser and then get a use third member. But remember to be sure that you have the correct spline carrier or spool as the axles that you would order has.....

Happy Hotrodding!!!!!!!!

A ford nine-inch is a good swap. I have one laying around here that has been shortened for a camaro, moser axles, 4.34 richmonds and disc brake set-up that i might put in the back of my formula. I plan on welding brackets that will accpet the stock suspension geometry and utilize a spohn adj torque arm
