flywheel differences?
Hey guys,
besides number of teeth are there any other differences in fly wheels for most v8 gm engines?
Is the bolt pattern to the crank shaft the same?
Any info about the subject would be nice,
thank you:hail: :hail: :hail:

big differance in one piece and two piece rear seal flywheel/flex plates and the 400 is unique to 400 sbc only. bbc and sbc are all the same except the 400 and 454 and i'd suspect the larger than 454s would interchange with the 454 and each other but don't know for sure.

400 flywheel has weights on it, other than that, sbc v8's are completely interchangable, not sure about interchangability of 90 degree v6's and v8's, the 4.3 flywheel LOOKS close if not identical to a v8. all of them will bolt up (all sbc v8's and v6's).

all SBC flywheel flex paltes are not interchangeable. there is a huge balance differance between one and two piece crank seals as well the small problem of differant bolt patterns and a dowel pin. the same applies to the 4.3, they will fit and work with SBCs as long as you allow for the one or two piece crank seal.

umm..
ok, I am sorta getting a clue.
I talked to a guy who works in the machine shop at napa, where I work.
He sais the bolt parterns are mostly the same. There is an old "block bolt partern for the flywheel but she said all new ones have the same bolt partern.
Thank for you for your help.:hail: :hail: :hail:
