700r4 ?s
Okay I'm in the process of installing another 700r4 in my Camaro. My question is should I re-use the billet servo and .500 line boost valve. My previous 3 transmissions break the reaction carrier shaft, then take out the rear planetary assy., and the output shaft. Could this servo be causing this, should I just get a new vette servo? I eventually plan on a t-56 swap if this one doesn't hold out, but I don't want to loose the torque multiplication of the automatic.
The other question I have is kinda oddball. I read in the pioneer barnes rebuild kit to inspect the 3rd gear accumulator for the center wearing into an oval shape, and taking the piston out (if in good shape) flipping it over and installing the spring first then the accumulator, (like the 2004r) rendering it useless.
It also says to leave out the boost springs ( between the housing and the 3-4 clutches) out of the input housing. They say this is to help alleviate 3-4 clutch pack failure and give a firmer shift. Is this
?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

My personal experience has been to stay away from billet servo's. I had problems w/ them breaking bands. The good old corvette servo has never done me wrong. Its a proven performer.
As far as the other questions, if you were to get a TransGo Reprogramming kit, it will answer all your other questions: You will invert the 3-4 accumulator piston and spring, but before you install them backwards, you'll block off the accumulator feed in the bottom of the bore first, then install them, which would save you from having to replace the accumulator piston if it was worn out in the center.
The Reprograming kit comes w/ HiRev springs. when you install them, you'll leave the 3-4 booster springs out.

I agree the "billet" servo does nothing but create problems. Are you going to do this yourself?, or have it built? No matter what get rid of the stock diameter 12" torque converter and go with something smaller 9.5" A.C.T., Yank, or Vigilante. These TC's are apx. 14-17 lbs. lighter and multiply torque better, and are a lot easier on the drivetrain. The stock TC's are very hard on parts once you modify the transmission for firmer shifts. I'm not sure what you are calling a "third" gear accumulator, but the Corvette or billet servo is the "third" gear accumulator. If they are referring to the check ball capsule that sits behind the 2-4 servo's in the case?, just make sure it is not rusty and blow it out with compressed air on both sides of the capsule. If it needs to be replaced (rare), then do that, but "do not" block it off, it will create other problems if you do. If you are going to install the Trans-Go Perfomance Shift kit, Corvette servo, or anything else needed to make this unit "last", then let me know as I carry the necessary parts, and have the information needed to do this right! You can reach me at 800 7763288 M-S 10-6 PST, let me know?
