rebuild th350 myself?
Whenever I got my truck my cousins gave me a th350 with it.I believe it is the original tranny.(even though I saw somewhere the th350 was introduced until 1968.
Anyway he claims the tranny was fine. The thing is it had been sitting in the mud.(yes he is a *******)And I am afraid some dirt might have gotten in to it somehow. There was so much mud on it the tranny looked like it was smooth.Like 4 inches!
Also I am building a healthy 350 for it.And plan on running a higher stall convertor. So I think is it a good idea to either rebuild it myself or have someone else do it.
I was going to order the TCI rebuild kit out of summit. And try and do it my self.
So what do you guys think give it a shot.Or leave it to a pro.

Why not rebuild it yourself?
Pick up a copy of Ron Session's Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 Handbook
and get started. They are not hard to rebuild, and there are a lot of places to get parts for them. Just make sure it has the right bellhousing pattern and overall length for your truck.
You should be able to hire a local tranny shop to do any work you don't have the proper tools for, such as removing the piston at the rear of the case, etc.
