Transmission: 700-R4
Axle/Gears: stock 3.73
early shift
recently my car has been shifting into fourth when i'm only going about 30 (normal driving), or sometimes about 35 and i can't figure out why. when it does, the rpm's drop to like 1000. any ideas on what it could be? I have a 84 trans am 305HO with a 700-R4 tranny.

Look in the tech articals for the detent cable adjustment (TV cable). This sounds like it could be a cause. Its really easy to change.

the tech article is kind of confusing, is there an easier way to explain it? also, could it be the modulator valve?
