T-5 Rebuild

Just bought a w/c t-5 out of an f-body and want to tear it apart before transplanting it into my vette. Please let me know of any manuals or books on it along with places to buy rebuild kits.

BTW Just bought my Formula from Bob Rabine, great guy!

Go to www.hanlonmotorsports.com They have a video for $17 that's great ,and also sell rebuild kits that are very complete.

Thanks for the links.

Alloy

Does that video also show ways to determine if you need a rebuild or give tolerances? I will probably rebuild it just to be on the safe side since I do not it's history.

Thanks again

Chris

The video goes through the tear down and shows you the common problems a T5 has, and what to look for. I'd buy the video first, tear the trans down and inspect for damage before making a decision to rebuild or replace the trans. If you have any gear damage, replacing gears can get expensive in a hurry. I lost the front bearing in my NWC T5 and it ate the front of the cluster. The new cluster cost me $167 ,and a rebuild kit was $135. I seriously thought about getting another trans, but the question was will the replacement trans be in any better shape than the one I had. The answer was it might not be, and the rest of my trans was perfect even after 145k miles. So I went ahead and got a cluster and kit, rebuilt it and it shifts better now than when I drove it off the showroom floor.
