200C no longer locking up????
Well Tranny guys, I have a ? for you...
This past month, I broke down and had the 200C in my 83 camaro rebuilt to stop the massive leaking. I took it to the same guy who had rebuilt the tranny in my wife's car this past summer. Instead of rebuilding the old one, they installed a new (possibly a remanufactured) in it. After getting it back, it no longer leaks but I am not sure if the new torque converter is locking up. With the old tranny, the car would feel like it "shifted" into another gear as the TC locked up. The new one does not have this feel. I checked the external wiring the other night while changing the oil.
Should I still feel the "shift" when the TC locks up? Or was that extra "shift" sensation something that should not happen? (Old TC was bad)?

My TA had a 200C in it and I could feel the converter lock up.
I'm fairly sure that the owner's manual described it as feeling like an extra gear shift.
You should also see the tach drop a bit when the converter locks.
