Stock rear end gears for 92 rs., what are they
I am going to replace my rear end gears. I looked for some kind of ID numbers on the axle and punkin ball but I couldnt find anything.. What gears did this model come with, and do you think I should go with 3.73 or maybe 3.42?

Thanks for advice
I appreciate the heads up. But I am still wondering if that is a posi unit, and how much will I benifet from gear change.

Its possible that it could be a posi. My 'vert came w/ 2.73 posi.
There is usually a significant difference when you do a gear change. A step from 2.73 to 3.42 or 3.73 will probably put a grin from ear to ear.

If you're looking to see if its a posi or not, check the build sticker in the console. If its a posi it should have a G80 op code. I think that op code goes across the board for any Gm product. My car was originally a v6 car so it had 3:42s in it. Now that it has a v8 those gears are quite adequate for everyday use.

Still not sure
I looked for a console sticker and had no luck I also looked for ID numbers on axle and couldnt find any. Im pretty sure that they are 2.73, but I will find out when I replace them, hopefully this month or next. I am looking forward to seeing what a difference it makes. My tranny was just professionally built by a local guy I know and that made a nice difference. I am also adding a B&M megashifter and tranny cooler at the same time. Cant wait till spring.
Try this look at the R.P.O codes in the rear compartment in the hatch and the 9th row 2nd #down might be the axle code and if its 2:73 it will have the code GU2, but any way the codes will be in the hatch campartment door open it and on the door you will see the sticker that reads a bunch of numbers and in mine it was row 9, 2 down it had gu2.
I have a 1992 camaro rs lo3 273 rear gears
if that don't help I'm sorry then, good luck
