Rebuilding rearend
Hi guys, gotta question
I'm pretty much entirely rebuilding the rearend on the car I got the following and it's ready to go in.
New 28 spline Axles
New Zexel Torsen posi
New 10 bolt 7.5 Bearing and gasket kit
3.42 gears
New oil
Now I don't have a shimes kit, do you thing that will work ?? can I use the shimes on my rear end ??? it's a 89 stock rear-end with 2.73's
Since this is my first posi installation , any tips ?? any tricks ?
I want to take out the rear-end, I think this will greatly help me since it's the first time I'm doing that, should I do it this way ?
Thx

It is kinda hard to guess whether or not your shims will work I have a whole hanger full of them and almost always have to order a shim pack, a rear end is pretty hard to setup without a dial indicator as that is how you can determine the shims.

no you can't guess at what shim you need. you need a 2-3 depth mike or pinion setting gauge to know what shim you need o nthe pinion ,you need an in/lb torque wrench with a dial to set bearing preload, you need a "special tool" to hold the pinion yoke ,shop press and bearing seperator to change pinion bearing and shims, indicator and mag base to check back lash. if you don't know what your doing, or are inable to learn it'd be best to find someone to help you out.
