ATTN JIM85IROC T5 swap question...
I remember you swapped a T5 into your 85 IROC, as I will be doing VERY shortly, since the 700 slushbox is now acting up. I'm pretty straight on everything involved in the swap but did have a couple of questions. I'm sure I can figure them out when I'm in the middle of the swap, but knowing ahead of time would definitely save me some time, which is nice since this is my daily driver.
Torque arm mount differences? I believe you used a '91 WC T5, mine is a '92 WC T-5... did you have to get another torque arm mount or did the existing '85 700 unit bolt onto the T5 without issues? Trying to narrow it down here, since my GM parts catalog lists ALOT of 'em and isn't specific on what got what....
Tranny mounting? Did everything from the 700 work fine in mounting the T5 or did you have to buy something else?
And finally, out of curiousity, were you able to use EXISTING wires to plug into the neutral safety or did you have to cut and splice? Did you find a connector under the dash?
Reverse lights.. do you remember off the top of your head what color they were?
Thanks

Just as a FYI, I'm hoping to put together a comprehensive part list for switching to a T5 from a 700R4, and maybe we can make it a sticky? Here's some needed parts #'s I've ran across
Flywheel bolts: ( Each listed is a set of 6 bolts )
Mr Gasket #912
ARP 100-2801
Pressure plate bolts: ( set of 6 bolts )
Mr Gasket #910 comes w/ washers
ARP 130-2201
Pilot bearing ( this a roller BEARING instead of the factory installed bushing )
GM pt# 14061685 ( factory part for pickups with 6.2 diesel engine )
I've got the rest of the part #'s at home that I got from my parts catalog..
Including:
Master cyl / slave cyl combo
Clutch inspection cover ( dust cover )
Lower shift boot
Upper shift boot w/ console plate ( 90-92 style is still avail NEW from GM )
Clutch clip ( for retaining clutch mast cyl rod to the clutch pedal )
Bushing for above
U-bolt for attaching the clutch master cylinder
Neutral safety switch
