It's not extremly loud but you can hear it, it's loudest when accelrating but no gas pedal being pressed it's not as loud. it can be described as a squirrel type of noise

Well I'm not a real transmission guy, but my guess would be a bad synchro that's squeking (is it hard to put it into 5th?) or the gears aren't meshing right (which isn't a good thing). That's my guess, anybody else have an idea?

5th has a tendency to whine slightly.
Make sure the trans is full of fluid. And I do mean "full", not just "yeah it's not quite dry yet". 5th is in the extension housing, isolated from all the other gears, and there's nothing below it splashing fluid all up onto it; so if the trans runs dry, it's the first one to wipe out. If the trans leaks it may already be too late for it.

Check your tranny fluid! Mine did this exact thing when I first bought it and the tranny was really low on fluid. I added some till it came flowing through the upper bolt on the passenger side and the noise went away.
2 years later, the whine came back and it ended up being the tailshaft housing bushing. I bought the tool from snapon, changed the bushing and returned the part no q's asked!
Gotta love snapon!
