84 z t5

on my 84 l69 ho t5 it grinds in 3rd gear where is the plug located and wat type of gear oil should i put in

Axle/Gears: 4.10 on a torsen diff
Plug is on the passenger side, about in the middle of the transmission case. Usually they run Dexron II ATF, but I use 50 weight synthetic gear oil and have no problems. Pull the plug, you should be able to identify what's in there by smell/consistency. Just for reference (I'm sure you already know) the oil should be level with the fill plug hole.
