I'm gonna post a pic of some metal I found hanging on the magnet (on my differential cover)...is this bad? Anybody with experience recognize this thin metal? It's from an '85 T/A, 3.08 stock gears with over 200k miles....should I find some better gears/whole rearend or can I still run what I've got? Thanks.

pull the spider gears and check the carrier, sometimes the washers between the spider gears and the carrier will disintigrate and then you could have a mess on your hands.

The pieces DO look like they could be washers...I have no idea how long it's been like that, and how long it would last...I think I'm going to call around for rear ends come Monday and see what I can get a good posi set up with some steeper gears...Now I'm afraid to even drive my car....
