Hello, I am having a problem with my tranny on my 82 pace car.
Last fall before I stored it I noticed that when the car is at normal operating temperature my transmission starts to act up. For example when driving in the city, say 25-30 mph, I slow down to make a turn, my car seems to stay in 3rd gear it won't downshift as my speed decreases to make my turn. As a result the car dogs and I get a kind of meshing, grinding sound coming from beneath the car. To remedy this I dump the tranny into number 2 overdrive until I get the car back to 25-30 mph. This seems to solve the problem, but I would like to know if anybody else has has this happen. I would just like to go to my mechanic with some relevant information to help him possibly find the cause quicker.

This car has 36000 miles, has cfi, and rear discs, and is in very good condition on the exterior and very good/excellent on the interior. I will be taking it in for its annual checkup, and then I will be putting it up for sale, so any help form anyone as to price and where I should list would be appreciated. I've owned it for 17 years and I want it to go to a good home.
