Rear End Gears?

Ok, i know a little about the engine part of our cars but can someone please explain the rear end gear ratios? i have an 84 TA with the 3.73 rear. so does that mean i'm quicker than say 3.23 but slower at top speed? and what should i get posi wise.

Yes, you are figuring that correctly.

A lot of folks really like the SLP Zexel-Torsen posi units at $99. That is the least expensive and probably longest lasting posi by a country mile! But you will have to get 28 spline axles to replace your 26 spline units in the 84. GM didn't start using 28 spline axles until late 1989 or so, so they aren't very common. However, Mosler makes them and they are about $250 US a pair.
